Dear Friend of El Centro,

Your support of El Centro de Accion Social has helped over 200 students and over 170 senior citizens receive direct one-on-one assistance this year. We would kindly appreciate it if you would consider including El Centro de Accion Social in your giving this holiday season. 

El Centro works throughout the year to help students improve their academics and personal growth. Last summer, over 150 children and youth took part in our Summer School in the Park. Over 70% showed significant improvement in their math, science, and literacy skills. 

We continue to offer our Youth Education Program at Jefferson Elementary School with the goal of improving academic performance, critical thinking, English proficiency, and raising the self-confidence of our students.

El Centro also helps many students at John Muir High School and Washington Middle School with after school tutoring, which is a key in helping our student’s to succeed academically. We also provide field trips to various colleges and universities so that our students can begin to visualize a college education.  They have access to a broader world view through El Centro’s Speaker Series where invited guests share their life and work experiences. Our impact can be measured by the number of our students who are now enrolled in various colleges and universities.

At the opposite end of the age spectrum, over 170 senior citizens are enrolled in English as a Second Language classes, U.S. Citizenship classes, computer classes,  case management,  health screenings and workshops provided by Huntington Memorial Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Hospital at our satellite program, located at Villa Parke Community Center.

We also continue to organize our key cultural events that include: Three Kings Day, Cesar Chavez Commemoration & Peace Walk, Dia de los Muertos, El Centro's Gloria Delaney Scholarship Fund.

Please consider making a Holiday donation to El Centro de Accion Social. With your help we will continue to meet our mission which is to continue helping to improve our City. El Centro cannot do it without your support. You can mail your check or money order in the enclosed envelope. With your donation you will help to improve the lives of many students and senior citizens who will benefit greatly through our programs.
