El Centro was founded in 1968 by a  group of dedicated and passionate individuals who saw an increasing need for basic social services for the growing Spanish-speaking population of the Pasadena community.
After securing the support of the City of Pasadena, the group opened in a small building located in Pasadena’s Central Park. El Centro has remained an active community organization since that time and today provides services to thousands of families and individuals each year, from all backgrounds and ethnicities.

Building better lives through service to each other and the community...

Save our 2008 Summer School in the Park!

Your help is needed now more than ever. One of our programs with a documented significant and positive impact on over 200 children a year –the Summer School in the Park– is at risk of being canceled!

That means 200 kinder -12th grade youth will not receive math, science and language arts instruction that can make the difference between failing a grade or moving on to the brighter future. And they won’t receive the program’s free breakfast and lunch when they “hang” at the corner instead of learning to read, write and do math. read more
