Volunteer Youth Leader
One open position

A person with a love for teaching and learning that inspires others to do their best. This individual would work with staff to facilitate an after-school youth group program for teens 13-17 years old. Some of the activities would include: assisting students with homework; providing moral support and a listening ear to students; and assisting in the creation and development of educational and informative workshops on topics such as: cultural education, careers and goals, and college preparation.

Volunteer Outreach Coordinator
Two open positions year round

This individual would help promote the work of the organization and motivate others to get involved. This individual would work with staff to identify and staff booths for outreach opportunities; identify and staff booths for volunteer recruitment opportunities and provide support and coordination efforts to volunteers in the organization. This individual would help promote the work of the organization and motivate others to get involved utilizing various means including: internet outreach, community events, school functions, and college fairs.


Volunteer Math and English Tutor/Academic Mentor
Open positions:

Make an impact in the lives of our youth. Work with students to improve their Math, Science and English skills. Inspire students to strive for their dreams and empower them to accomplish their goals. Must be willing to provide TB test and background check.

Development Assistant / Fellowship:
The Development Assistant would play a crucial role in working to sustain the work of the organization. This individual would provide much needed support for the Executive Director in development efforts. Activities would include: assisting in implementing El Centro’s annual giving campaign including; identifying new avenues for in-kind donations; help develop strategies for fundraising efforts including but not limited to personal, direct mail, phone solicitations, and special events; assists with grant writing, research and reporting; assists with design, production and distribution of development materials, including brochures, letters inserts, invitations, etc.

Summer School Intern
March - August 2008

El Centro’s oldest running program provides over 170 children fun academic based programming. The volunteer coordinator would assist in outreach and registration, coordinate special speakers and field trips, assist in planning and executing the Summer School Open House, and support teachers in their daily class preparation.
