El Centro celebrates Cesar Chavez. Come join us at 363 E Villa ave at the Villa Parke Recreation Center. This event is co-sponsored by Pasadena Human Services and Rec. Dept. We will feature food, music, media, and keynote addresses about the wonderful vision, work and lasting legacy of this important historical figure. Dia de Los Muertos/Dia De Los Americas Sat. October 28, 2006
El Centro celebrates its 27th Annual Day of the Dead Celebration at Villa Parke Community Center located at 363 East Villa Street in Northwest Pasadena. The event,made possible in part by the City of Pasadena Human Services and Neighborhood Resources Department, will feature traditional foods from Latin America, Art vendors, Aztec dancers and Ballet Folklorico performers, as well as arts and crafts activities for children. The purpose of this event is building unity and trust among the diverse communities of Pasadena and the greater San Gabriel Valley. 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

El Centro celebra 27 anos de tradicion con el Dia de Los Muertos. La celebracion se llevara acabo en el Centro Comunitario de Villa Parke - 363 East Villa Street en Pasadena. Sera de 6:00 p.m. hasta 9:00 p.m. El evento ofrece comidas tradicionales, artes para ninos, bailes folkloricos y mucho mas. Gracias a la Ciudad de Pasadena, Departamento de Servicios Humanos.
After School Programs September 2007 - June 2008
El Centro’s Pena Juvenil provides after school tutoring at 2 sites for children ages 5-18. Jefferson Elementary services 40 students Monday through Friday. Monday 1:30 - 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Activities in this program include a Student Run Garden project. El Centro also features a program for youth ages 13-18 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m at John Muir High School. Our program is called "El Centro's Youth Leadership Academy." El Centro’s Pena Juvenil provee servicios de tutoria en dos sitios para ninos entre las edades de 5 hasta los 18 anos. De lunes a viernes se ofrecen servicios en la escuela Jefferson - Lunes de 1:30 - 6:00 p.m. y Martes a Viernes de 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Actividades incluyen un proyecto de jardin, artes, y recreo. El Centro tambien ofrece un programa para estudiantes de 13 a 18 anos en la escuela John Muir lunes, martes y miercoles de 3:00 p.m - 6:00 p.m. Este programa ofrece asistencia con tareas, visitas a universidades, lideres comunitarios vendran a dar discursos a la clase y tendran charlas sobre various temas. Villa Parke Senior Network September 2007 - June 2008
El Centro’s Senior Services located at Villa Parke Community Center offers ESL classes free to the public Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays range from the following: Spanish Computer Literacy Classes, Exercise Classes, Nutrition Workshops, and Arts/Crafts. Programa de Tercer Edad Septiembre 2007- June 2008 Servicios para personas de Tercera Edad se ofrecen en El Centro de Accion Social Comunitario de Villa Park, lunes a viernes entre las 9:00 a.m. hasta las 11:00 a.m. Servicios incluyen: clases de Ingles los lunes, miercoles y viernes. Martes y Jueves se ofrece varias actividades, entre ellas: talleres de ejercicio, clases de nutricion, clases en Espanol sobre la nutricion. El Centro Summer School Program
June 25th - August 1st 2008
El Centro’s oldest running program provides over 200 children fun academic based learning. Classes are taught by credentialed teachers and offer a 10:1 student to teacher ratio. The program times are from 7:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and include breakfast and lunch provided by the Pasadena Unified School District. All materials and field trips are included in the registration price of $100 per student. Previous activities have included: trip to California Science Center, Cabrillo Aquarium and Olvera Street, performances by Occidental Children's Theatre and Pasadena Playhouse, local trips to the Norton Simon, Pacific Asian Museum and more.
