Senior Programs

El Centro's Senior Citizen Network Program was established in 1999 to improve the quality of life for aging Latinos in the Pasadena area and enable them to become and/or remain self-sufficient. The program serves between 150 to 200 senior citizens. Many participants in the Senior Network are physically and socially isolated from family and neighbors due to transportation and health constraints. Many suffer from chronic conditions including, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and heart disease. The Senior Network, which is based at Pasadena's Villa Parke Community Center, offers programs that help aging Latinos overcome barriers to independence and good health. Programs include: English as a second language, Citizenship and Computer classes, Field trips. |
