El Centro's Summer Cchool in the Park is among Pasadena's greatest traditions. For decades, children have gathered in central park to study all academic subjects. Classes are taught by credentialed teachers and are focused on the core academic subjects. Working with assessment tools provided by Pasadena unified school district, students who complete the program significantly improve in reading fluency, vocabulary and math. Currently the state budget has negatively impacted funding for public school and organizations. PUSD will not be able to offer summer school at many school sites due the budget constraints. El Centro's summer program is needed now more than ever and your support is crucial to ensuring that the tradition continues.
With your help, we can helps hundreds of students to obtain academic success, without our help many will continue to academically struggle. We need $ 104,000 to fully staff our summer school in the park program with dedicated credentialed teachers, supplies for summer school and quality academic field trips.
