El Centro was founded in 1968 by a group of dedicated and
passionate individuals who saw an increasing need for basic social services for
the growing Spanish-speaking population of the Pasadena community. After securing the
support of the City of Pasadena, the group
opened in a small building located in Pasadena’s
Central Park. El Centro has remained an active community
organization since that time. Today El Centro de Accion Social provides
opportunities for low-income individuals and families to become self-sufficient
and to provide culturally sensitive programs to those in need of services,
especially the to Spanish-language speakers of Pasadena and the San Gabriel
Valley area.
